BCSSA Guiding Principles

 BCSSA is an organization of Member Clubs.

BCSSA promotes and supports four aquatic disciplines (speed swimming, diving, water polo and synchronized swimming) in a highly competitive summer season from May 1 to September 30, with restricted participation in these aquatic sports from October 1 through April 30.

BCSSA has a thriving and successful history of voluntary service.  Volunteers play a crucial role within this organization and are a valuable resource to its operation and its vision.

Volunteers within BCSSA perform a wide variety of tasks and services and lend their time, expertise and commitment in order to provide our athletes with the best possible aquatic experiences within our programmes.

Education and training is a vital component for volunteers participating within the BCSSA organization.  Volunteers who are offered some form of training are more able to carry out their duties with ease and confidence which in turn benefits all members.

The BCSSA Board of Directors is the governing body of the BC Summer Swimming Association.  The Board is responsible for the development and maintaining focus of BCSSA's mission and vision.  The Board articulates, safeguards, and promotes the organization's values and further establishes financial policies and ensures accountability, monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
