2. CORRESPONDENCE - none
·
Key changes for 2002 – age, eligibility, and the
establishment of the wild card system
·
Eligible ages 13 to 16 yr olds (changed from 14/15 yr
olds)
·
De-qualification rule for 15/16 yr olds – if a swimmer
has medalled in more than 1 individual event at Provincials then that swimmer
would be ineligible to be considered to compete at Summer Games. If a swimmer medals in one stroke, they
could still be considered to go, however, they would be ineligible to swim that
stroke at Summer Games. They could only
be entered in 7 of the 9 events.
·
No de-qualification rule for 13/14 yr olds as they
would be competing together with the 15/16 yr olds
·
If a swimmer medals as an “O” swimmer and then switches
to Summer, they would still be de-qualified.
·
Swimmers must be entered in all 9 events – 50m/100m –
Fr, Fl, Ba, Br + 200m IM, unless they have been de-qualified for an individual
stroke and then they would swim just 7 events.
·
Each zone may send up to 8 girls & 8 boys. Fraser South region makes up part of Zone 3
& Zone 4.
·
Wild card system will allow for an additional 20
girls & 20 boys to be eligible, after the initial 8 & 8 have been
selected for each zone. Each swimmer is
to be ranked, based on submitted times, and the top 20 girls & 20 boys from
the remaining swimmers, from the entire Province would be eligible to swim at
Summer Games.
·
To be considered for Summer games, names along with
times for all 9 events must be submitted to your Zone rep no later than
June 10th (see BCSSA web site for zone rep listing). There is a time calculator in place to
manufacture a 50m time from a 100m time.
It is recommended that for those times that are missing, the coach &
a club official time the swimmer at practice.
·
Forms to be ready for circulation March 15th
and may be downloaded from the Internet (forms to be in Excel format) - see website www.bcgames.org
·
Athletes may only be entered in (1) sport (be sensitive
to those athletes qualifying in 2 sports ie: Waterpolo & Swimming)
