Minutes of Meeting

July 4,  2001

 

 

Present:     Nori Nishi, Deb Durocher, Joan Angrignon, Amelia Werk, Rosemary Mundigel, Margaret Price, Bob Munro, Gary Payne, Anne Munro

 

1.  MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING

The minutes of the meeting held June 6, 2001 were amended to state that the Fraser South Provincial duties 2001 are both Clerk of the Course & Marshalling. 

Motion to approve by Joan Angrignon, seconded by Deb Durocher.                         Motion Carried

 

2.   CORRESPONDENCE - none

 

3.   REPORTS

 

Regional Director

·         There have been concerns expressed with the 2 hr. winter rule in some regions

·         There was a brand new Colorado timing system available through Crown Asset disposal. Rob & Firth looked at it, but unfortunately it was only a (6) lane timing system.  Margaret e-mailed info to the other Regional Directors.

     

Assistant Director

·         Presented Regional Package

·         Ros Condrashoff is qualified to run the timing system at Watermania and will look after the electronic timing system at Regionals.  Ken Lowe & Brenda Hinz are also qualified.  It was suggested we train more people if possible

·         Watermania will be open at 6:00 a.m. for set up, with warm-ups starting at 6:30am.

·         16 lanes will be available until 8:00 a.m. each day.  After 8:00 a.m. - (6) lanes in the 2^nd pool will be open to the public.

·         There will be NO DECK ENTRIES – NO EXCEPTIONS!!  - All entries must be in the Monday prior to the meet.

·         Card Party to be held at Bob Munro’s – Tuesday, July 31^st.  At least one club representative / coach from each club must be present.

·         At the coaches meeting, Bob will ask the coaches if their swimmers are prepared to go to Trail if qualified, as the “Alternates” need to have as much notice as possible in order to make plans.

 

Registrar

·          2^nd Registration deadline is mid July

·         Water Polo/Diving/Synchro – need names for validation

 

Director of Officials

·         Need a list from clubs of the names who will not be available for officiating at Regionals

·         Will pre-assign official duties for Regionals – sign up sheet to be posted at Surrey meet

·         Requalified approximately 50 people this year.

·         Boundary Bay to bring the remaining official T-shirts to be sold at Surrey meet

Treasurer

·         Presented budget for Regionals  - estimated $3,000 profit

·         All refunds to clubs have been issued

 

Secretary  

Nothing to report

 

Coach’s Representative

Not present

 

Equipment Manager

·         Equipment has been ordered (1 touch pad plus 7 interconnect cables and 1 harness cable)

·         Margaret to confirm with Firth as to the location of the timing system

5.         OLD BUSINESS

 

• Fraser South Provincial Duties 2001 – Clerk of the Course and Marshalling
• Rosemary to hold clinic – Saturday, August 11^th at 9:30 at Winskill pool
• At least one family member from each Provincial qualifier is expected to attend clinic
• Will be verifying Provincial Pinks & Blues at clinic

 

·       BCSSA Strategic Planning Outline

• Questionnaires have been distributed to clubs
• Results to be tallied and presented at the AGM

 

• AGM 2001
• It was agreed to hold the AGM at Regionals between heats and finals on Saturday.  Limit meeting to 45 minutes and if more time is needed to wrap it up on Sunday.

 

6.         NEW BUSINESS

 

• BCSSA Volunteer nomination
• Fraser South has nominated Gail Revitt for a volunteer award for her 27years of service with the North Delta Sunfish.
