4. CLUBS
Boundary Bay - Producing a coach’s manual – a who’s responsible for what, including procedures, protocol, harassment etc. Any material from other clubs welcomed. Will share manual with Fraser South clubs when completed. Fraser South surveys distributed regarding coaches salaries and responsibilities – it would be appreciated if all clubs would complete this and return to Gary Payne. Gary to compile results and forward copies to all Fraser South clubs. All information to stay in Fraser South region.
Cloverdale – Have Fleetwood pool Wednesday nights. Coaches all in place.
Crescent Beach – Still in hiring process, getting close. Coaches should be in place by the end of the month.
Ladner – Have hired all coaches. Registration for returning swimmers this Saturday.
North Delta – Coaches are meeting for the 1st time this year this Saturday night. Registration is this Sunday.
Richmond – Early registration this weekend – Saturday & Sunday. Main registration is April 6th. Kigoos are hoping to sell advertising spots on their web site, as they are expecting a lot of traffic on the Web. They have already been approached by a Realtor to advertise on the Kigoos web site.
Surrey – Not present
White Rock – Winter maintenance is full. Had a Mini meet this past weekend, and ran it on the Hytec program without a glitch. Summer registration to be held April 6th & 7th. A group of residences from across the pool have signed a petition requesting no swimming prior to 7AM due to noise. This is still to be addressed with the city, and hopefully to be resolved through modifications to that early morning practice.
· Fraser South “B” cut off times
o Pierre talked to Carol and they are still working on it.
· Regionals
o All essentials have been covered. Any questions about club duties please call either Steve or Mike.
· Club Insurance coverage (general & directors)
o All clubs are interested in obtaining the insurance. It all depends on the price.
o Diane to email the cost of North Delta’s D&O insurance and carrier.
6. NEW BUSINESS
·
Synchro club looking to join Fraser South Region
o
Donna was approached by a Synchro club working out of
Walnut Grove Pool, training 2 hrs / wk, if they could join the Fraser South
Region.
o
Donna to forward details to Pierre who will follow up.
·
S & O rules – general discussion
o
Changes may be made which would allow a swimmer to
train 2hrs/wk swimming, plus 4hrs/wk Waterpolo, plus 3 hrs/wk Synchro, plus 2
hrs/wk Diving, in the Winter and would still be classified as a “S” swimmer.
o
Goal is to attract kids to other water sports besides
swimming
o
Concerns with Water Polo conditioning; unfair advantage
to swimmers only swimming 2hrs/wk
o
Water Polo does not train for technique so in the end
is there an advantage?
o
Does the objective of getting more kids in the pool
outweigh the few that may take advantage of the system?
o
Not fair to all regions, as there is not enough pool
time
o
Disadvantage to Fraser South as other regions have more
pool time
o
Want kids in the water to keep fit
o
Realize that we can’t make it a level playing field
· New Registration Software
o
New registration package being delivered today to all
clubs, including training guide
o
Winnie Palubiski reported that there is a problem
with the “Run Time” version and to not use it.
