MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:
Katherine Town moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be accepted, Seconded by Bob Munro. Carried.
Admendments to previous minutes:
  1. Katherine Town’s name was missed on the list of Attendees.
  2. Motion that the transfer of Swimmers between clubs in our region will not be permitted within "two weeks" of Regionals.
  3. There was a motion by Margaret Price to remove at sentence in Business arising. Seconded by Bob Munro. Passed

Deb Durocher moved to accept the financial statement, seconded by Bob Munro. Carried.
REPORTS:
  1. Coaches Rep:                 Colleen Sharp is now the Coaches Rep.
  2. Water Polo:                    BCSSA has been given a "GO"grant for Water Polo. They are looking for ideas to use the money.
  3. Syncro:                          None
  4. Diving:                           There was a hand-out for Diving. For further information contact Joanna Linardis (604)941-9721 or email: jlinardi@sfu.ca
  5. Registrar:                       Next meeting May 19,1998 at Winnie’s house. Winter maintenance: 122 new swimmers in Fraser South
  6. Director of Officials:     Each club should check their list of officials for corrections. There will be clinics up and coming. Murray Lunn would like clubs to learn how to use the timing equipment.
  7. Assistant Regional Director: Each club can submit ads for the regional program. (Submit them with your regional entries.
CLUB REPORTS:
  1. Boundary Bay:      100 swimmers registered
  2. Ladner:                   Started last Friday – 120 swimmers
  3. Cloverdale:            Start swimming May 11 at Bear Creek
  4. Surrey:                    Start swimming May 11
  5. North Delta:           165 swimmers – looking for a Coach
  6. Richmond:        Season started last Monday 150 swimmers
  7. White Rock:           Starting next Monday approx. 96 swimmers
  8. Crescent Beach:   None
BUSINESS ARISING:
  • Letter from BCSSA Auction Committee –thanking us for our donation.
  • There will be a discussion at the next meeting regarding a FSRD provincial bid for 1999.
  • There will also be a discussion at the next meeting on Regional 98 duties.
  • There was a long discussion at the start of the meeting regarding the minutes from the previous meeting and the mention of recruiting.
  • Bob Munro apologized for putting the minutes of the previous meeting on the Internet before they were approved and adopted. He did not realize this was a problem. When it was pointed out to him, he removed it immediately.
MOTIONS:
  1. Margaret Price made a motion that the minutes should be approved and adopted before they appear on the Internet. Seconded by Deb Durocher. Carried.
  2. Margaret Price made a motion that no persons, coaches or clubs be shown negatively in the minutes. Seconded by Deb Durocher Defeated
  3. Margaret Price made a motion that the Regional Director write an apology to WRASA for mentioning their name in the previous minutes (under Business Arising) Seconded by Deb Durocher Defeated
  4. There was a motion by Judith Huntington to take the motion made at the last meeting (regarding swimmer transfers prior to Regionals) off the table for further discussion. Seconded by Katherine Town. The original motion was PASSED .
NOTES FROM PROVINCIAL MEETING:
  1. Mar 31,1999 – Deadline for submitting bids for the 2000 Provincials
  2. The Auction raised $20,000 for BCSSA
  3. This year is the 40th Anniversary for BCSSA. Each club is requested to submit a "black and white" Club photo.
  4. Scholarship deadline for BCSSA swimmers id July 1,1998 (2-$250.00)
  5. BC Summer Games 98 will be in Maple Ridge.

Final motion to adjourn meeting. Motion made by Amelia Werk, seconded by Deb Durocher. (Carried)
