REPORTS
Regional Director
  1. At the provincial AGM in August, the motion put forward by Langley stating that a swimmer swimming two winters could never swim as an "S" swimmer again was defeated.
  2. The Delta Divng Club applied for status as a Club within the Fraser South Region. They presently are affiliated with the North Delta Swim Club and are ready to separate; the Diving Club would be both summer and winter and would make them the ninth Club in th FS Region. (See Motion 1).
  3. Richmond Kigoos bid for the 1999 Provincial Championships at Watermania. Anyone interested in helping with the Provincial bid should call Andy Hobbs - 277-191. There is a great need for people for Committees and there will be an Organizing Committee Meeting on Wednesday, October 28 at 7:30 pm at the Steveston Community Centre - Clubs please inform membership.
  4. Dates:
    August 7/8     -     Regionals, tentatively booked for Watermania
    August 17-22 -     Provincials 1999

    Club representatives to take back to their executives where Regionals should be held, ie. Watermainia or Surrey.
  5. All Clubs to send/give list of their Executives to Judith(Secretary), copies will be made and distributed to each Club.

  1. There is an outstanding amount of $92.00 for rule books (see Motion2).
  2. Margaret Price will look into purchasing two dozen rule books in the shrunken format.
  3. Timing System - Don Roberts will find out how much it will cost to have the timing system brought up to scratch before a decision is made on looking at a new system.
Director of Officials
[Rosemary sent her report via Bob Munro.] All Clubs holding winter maintenance, if you want to hold a clinic pick a night and phone Rosemary (271-6571).
Registrar
Registration packages were handed out to Presidents for the Club Registrars. The fee for winter maintenance swimmers new to BCSSA is $10.50 - these fees are due by April 7, 1999. The Provincial meeting for Regional Registrars will be held on November 14, 1998 - Club Registrars meeting will be held in March 1999.
Coaches' Representative - No report
Water Polo - No report.
Diving - No report.
Synchro - No report.
Clubs - No report.
Boundary Bay      Approximately 65 winter maintenace swimmers. Everything going fine.
Cloverdale            Just starting winter maintenance this Saturday. Lost pool space and are now at                                North Surrey
Crescent Beach  No report.
Ladner                  Started winter maintenance with 45 children and 10 adults. Had their AGM last                                Monday.
North Delta          No report.
Richmond             Have a masters program going. Winter starts this weekend with 65-70                                 swimmers. The 1999 season will mark their 40th anniversary. Looking into a                                 web page.
Surrey                  Winter program up and runnin. Would like to see a change from 2nd place finish                                to 4th place finish for relays at Regionals (see Motion 4).
White Rock          Started winter program last week, once a week until after Christmas, with                                approximately 40 swimmers.
MOTIONS
  1. John Westlake, seconded by Margaret Price "To accept the Delta Diving Club as a member of the Fraser South Region and a member of the BCSSA."     Motion Carried
  2. Amelia Werk, seconded by Don Roberts "To write-off the $92.00 cost of the rule books as a loss."       Motion Carried
To be presented at the next Provincial Meeting to be held in October 1998:
  1. Andy Hobbs, seconded by Donna Beaton
    "Fraser South would like a Category 3 created for Division 7 and over."
    6 in favour; 2 opposed; 2 abstentions      Motion Carried
  2. Don Roberts, seconded by Margaret Price
    "That the PQT for relay team times be adjusted to a more realistic and attainable time (ie. the 4th place finish time in the finals at Provincials)."     Motion Carried
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
The Regional meeting on December 2, 1998 will be a dinner meeting at 6:30 pm at Giorgio's, 120th St. and 64th in North Delta.
