Minutes of Meeting

March 5, 2003

 

 

Present:     Michelle Curley, Gary Payne, Simonetta Leduc, Kate Lidstone,  Joan Angrignon, Pierre Leduc, Diane Gerwin, Lily Vonic, Amelia Werk,  Robert Pettifer, Anne Munro

 

 

1.  MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING

The minutes of the meeting held February 5, 2003 were approved.  Motion to approve by Joan Angrignon, seconded by Diane Gerwin.                                                                                                 Motion carried

 

2.   CORRESPONDENCE - none

 

3.   REPORTS

 

Regional Director – see New / Old business

 

Assistant Director(s) – Steve to finalize meet package and e-mail to all in next couple of days

 

Registrar – circulated new registration process proposal – we appreciate Winnie’s offer and support all the work she does. Registration program is currently unworkable, as divisions do not calculate properly.  Program is also crashing computers.  Pierre to contact Don Martin.  Winter maintenance registration is due Saturday, Mar 8th.  FS registrar’s clinic – Saturday, Mar 8th at Sungod – 10am – 3pm.  Ted & Winnie to be there and will bring updated registration program.  Lily to e-mail all results of clinic.  To be further discussed next meeting.

 

Director of Officials – attended an official’s workshop – improving effectiveness of officiating.  Rulebook not changing this year – 20 has been ordered.  Recommended that Mission statement be posted at each meet.

 

Treasurer – not present

 

Secretary – nothing to report

 

Coach’s Representative – would like to have input on any changes to officiating rules.  Asked club presidents to forward email address of their head coach.  Rob to contact coaches for input on A/B/C cut off times.

 

Equipment Manager – not present

 

Water Polo – not present

 

 

 

4.   CLUBS

 

 

Boundary Bay  - registration beginning of April. Almost all executive positions have been filled. Will be starting a diving club this season – practices to be at Winskill; swimmers from other FS clubs are welcome to join – their diving points will go to their individual clubs.

 

Cloverdale – registration to be held April 6th

 

Crescent Beach – not present

 

Ladner – registration for returning swimmers Mar 9th ; new swimmers April 6th

 

North Delta – coaching staff hired and new executive in place.  Do not have confirmed pool space for upcoming season at this time. Expect enrollment to be lower for this season

 

Richmond – not present

 

Surrey   - currently working out rates, discussing fundraising ideas, winter maintenance going well.

 

White Rock  - winter maintenance is full and going well.  Hosting mini-meet April 5th – full at 180 swimmers.  Senior coaches have been hired & registration is Mar 29th & 30th

 

 

 

5.       NEW BUSINESS

 

 

- having problems getting pool for June 21st & 22nd.  Discussed having meet July 12th & 13th – dates supported by clubs.

 

 

-    tabled until next meeting

 

 

- it was suggested we run a B/C meet.  Concerns were raised re: number of eligible swimmers as many were dequalified last year.  Tabled until next meeting

 

 

  1. OLD BUSINESS

Motion:

 

The selection of the Fraser South regional relays will be made by the coaches based on the total performance (heats and finals) at Regionals, providing the swimmer was not disqualified.  Motion by Michelle Curley, seconded by Rob Pettifer.                                                                                                 Motion carried                                                

     

 

- Pads stored at North Delta are available to region
