3.   REPORTS

Regional Director – The Provincial Board has passed a motion stating that any summer swimmer swimming in a non-sanctioned BCSSA meet will have to swim “Open” in the summer.  This ruling to be effective in 2004.  This excludes the High School swim meets as they are BCSSA sanctioned.  Swimmers may still practice with a winter club in the off-season up to 2hrs per week.

Reminded all that parents must sign a BCSSA waiver prior to their child entering the pool, even if the child is just trying out.  The BCSSA ruling is that anyone can swim twice without paying, you just need a signed waiver.

Assistant Director(s) – not present

Registrar – still experiencing registration software problems.  (3) clubs had to be re-inputted for Winter Maintenance.  Updated version of registration package to be e-mailed to clubs.

5.  New Business

Motion:

Diving from the ends during warm-ups will only be permitted when swimming 25m sprints, with the exception of relay takeovers which are to be closely supervised by a coach.  The consequence will result in loss of warm-up privilege for whole club.

Motion by Robert Pettifer, seconded by Michelle Curley.                                                         Motion carried

Interest was expressed in ASST training.  Pierre to contact Mel regarding dates of possible training sessions.

  1. OLD BUSINESS

Regional meet package is ready.

It was agreed that there was no need to raise fees as we made $1,000 last year, and even with a pool rate increase, we expect to break even.

Rob reported that he had contacted most of the club’s coaches and they had no problem with the current “A” times.

Meeting adjourned at 9:00pm
