Just what IS this "Blue Box" I keep hearing about??
If you're new to the Neptunes, you may hear brief whispers about a
mystical and magical Blue Box and wonder what all the fuss is about. The
Blue Box goes back to the olden days, before email and website
communications. Historically, it has been the place where information
has been passed back and forth between club members, executives and
officials. It continues to be the place where you should look to find
any and all printed materials that you may receive throughout the year.
Your children's medals and ribbons are deposited there, as are sign-up
forms and information flyers regarding fundraising activities and any
other random bits we need to pass on. They can be found in the folder
with your family name on it. Yes, it IS actually a BLUE box and you can
find it on the bleachers at most practices. Don't see it? Ask one of the
Executive members or a head coach to get it out of "the cage" for you.
If everyone helps out, we can keep the lines of communication flowing!
Don't see a folder with your name on it? Make one or ask that one be
made for you, there are usually some blank ones in the box. Oh yeah, one
last note, please do not steal the box or take it home, there was a dark
period with little communication that lasted almost a year the last time
it went for a stroll!
A whole new way to look at Neptunes pics
I seem to have taken a few pictures last season and am fast running
out of space on the website and time to hand-format the picture pages. I
have starting moving the photos to Google and have incorporated them all
onto a single photo page that can only be accessed from this website
by clicking here. It's much easier
for me to maintain and allows me to post the pictures at a much higher
resolution. Ultimately, it means you can download them yourselves and
get them printed if you wish. It even lets you make movies from the
photos and create your own photo collages. Hope you like it. As always, if you have
any comments (good or bad) or wish to have any photos removed, please
don't hesitate to
drop me a
line.
Officials Wanted!
Every year, we lose officials from our club because people move or
children grow older or take interest in other sports. Without a full
complement of deck officials, we cannot run our swim meets. If you have
attended a Stroke and Turn Clinic, we encourage you to get out on deck
at the Mission Meet and shadow existing officials and learn how to do
this. If you have not been to a clinic yet, feel free to shadow the
officials anyway and they will train you on the deck during the meet.
Currently, the Neptunes have only 4 deck officials and this is not
enough for now or for the future. If you have an interest in becoming an
official or, better-yet, feel obligated by guilt to become one (yes,
that’s supposed to be funny!), please contact myself, Heather Stein, Al
Yeo, Cindy Kopp or any other member of the Executive and we’d be happy
to get you involved. It’s not difficult by any stretch of the
imagination and I think it’s by far the best seat in the house when it
comes to watching the races!

Competitive swimming
Swimming offers the fun of a team sport and the thrill of an
individual sport! Many swimming buddies and their families become
life-long friends. It’s the clock that counts! As swimmers develop their
skills they race against their own best times! Swimmers develop their
technique and endurance through regular workouts, and their efforts reap
very positive rewards. By maintaining a safe and fun environment we are
able to sponsor a club that is enjoyable and instills pride and
accomplishment in our members
The Hammond Developmental Program, is a great development camp for
beginners at the Hammond Pool that runs Monday to Friday, in the month
of July. The kids will be swimming from 9am to 10 am every weekday
morning.
Synchronized Swimming
The Neptunes synchronized swimming program has proven to be incredibly
successful and extremely popular since its inception in 2000! This year
we are proud to announce a whole new program complete with both dryland
and aquatic conditioning. Synchro promotes grace and strength, and is
open to both gendered athletes. All synchro swimmers compete at
Regionals and Provincials, and have successfully won trophies, medals
and ribbons.
Water Polo
Our water polo program is open to all children aged 17 and under. It is
an extremely fun sport to play and watch. The Neptunes run one of the
most successful programs in the BCSSA, winning many Provincial
Championships and boasting a number of players who have gone on to
National and International levels.
Before they were coaches, they were swimmers!
