GO PIKES! GO PIKES! GO PIKES!

2007 Pikes House Teams - TBA

HOUSE TEAMS

Why?
To promote and reward:
Good sportsmanship, team spirit, setting and achieving personal goals, good citizenship, voluntary service, work ethic and self-discipline
Examples of actions that would result in the awarding of points:

  • Sportsmanship and team spirit

  • Goal-setting and achievement

  • Citizenship and service

  • Work ethic and self-discipline

Each year, the Pikes divide into 3 house teams to build points through teamwork and interaction among swimmers with a little friendly and fun extra-curricular competition.  Points get awarded for a variety of activity and behaviour, so keep your head up, your coach could be watching to award your house team some valuable points.

Awarding points
· Only coaches may award points
· Anybody may report point-worthy behaviour to a coach
· The number of points awarded is left to the discretion of the coach but the number should follow general     guidelines. For example:

1 point for noteworthy behaviour of a similar magnitude to punctuality and attendance

2 points for behaviours which demonstrate leadership and positive role modeling (helping with set-up, assisting others etc.)

3 points extraordinary efforts or behaviours such as personal best times, record setting, regular mentoring and volunteer commitment

House Champions
· Regular point results will be posted on the bulletin board and in notices
· A trophy or other similar award will be presented to the house champions at the annual PIKES Awards Night.
