Club Information
The Princeton Kokanee Summer Swim Club is a young swim club that has been operating since the pool reopened in 1992. The goal of the swim club is to develop a spirit of companionship, improve physical conditioning, and self–discipline while learning to swim in a fun environment.

The Princeton Kokanee Summer Swim Club is registered with the BC Summer Swimming Association (BCSSA) and swim as part of the Okanagan Region. We are a club that operates with a volunteer executive elected by members during the Annual General Meeting held in October.

The Kokanees are a non-profit club dedicated to promoting and developing amateur swimming in Princeton, BC. We offer children the opportunity to develop their skills, compete in local, regional, and provincial swim meets, make new friends, and most of all have FUN!

Season & Practice Times
Our season runs from the third week of May until mid August. The Princeton swim club is open to children age 5 to 18 who are able to swim one pool width.
We are offering 2 practice times.
Session One: Developmental and Beginners
May - June 30th 5:00-6:00 pm Monday thru Friday
July 1st - mid August 4:30-5:30 pm
Session Two: Juniors, Intermediates, and Seniors
May - June 30th 6:00–7:00 pm Monday thru Friday
July 1st - mid August 5:30-6:30 pm Monday thru Friday

The first session is dedicated to new swimmers. Coaches work on the fundamentals of swimming and help the children learn to love the water. Emphasis is on fun and safety in the water.

Session one is also for the more advanced beginner swimmers. Coaches teach swimmers the proper stroke techniques and work on endurance. Emphasis once again is on safety and fun.

The second session is dedicated to ensuring proper stroke technique, stroke enhancement, endurance, and speed. Emphasis is on fun, speed, and competition!

We don't force any swimmer to compete but we would love to see all of the swimmers attend the Princeton Developmental Meet and the Princeton Fun Meet and one other swim meet during the summer.

Philosophy
The Princeton Kokanees are a competitive swim team whose goals are to develop a spirit of companionship, improved physical conditioning, and self–discipline.

All who love to swim and are interested in developing their strength, speed, and flexibility are welcome to join the team. Along with stroke development and improving endurance we also build self-confidence, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

Competition is the most visible focus of competitive swimming. However, it is secondary to the importance of personal bests. Swimming combines fun and challenges through individual and team perspectives. Swimming enables children at many ability levels to participate and be challenged and at the same time contribute to a team.

As a participant in aquatic sports a swimmer has the opportunity to:
	•	Learn skills required for competitive swimming
	•	Achieve all-round physical conditioning
	•	Foster self-development
	•	Develop good sportsmanship
	•	Appreciate the effort of others
	•	Train and compete with swimmers of a similar ability level
Enjoy a skill that can be enjoyed throughout life

Organization and Operation
The Executive and Committees are formed at the October AGM. The Executive consists of President, Vice President, Treasurer-Secretary, and Registrar. Committees that are formed include fundraising, publicity, and phone moms or dads. The Princeton Kokanee Summer Swim Club is organized and operated 100% through volunteer help. Parents and swimmers are expected to donate their time, abilities, ideas, and energy to help the club run smoothly. Fundraisers such as raffles, car washes, bake sales, and swim-a-thons help cover the club's expenses. Club expenses include pool rental, coaching fees, insurance, trophies, medals, ribbons, and equipment purchases.
